Fire Interruption Technology Buys Valuable Time in Fighting a Garage Fire in Alberta
Edson, Alberta
January 2010
When Deputy Fire Chief Tyler Robinson arrived on scene of a fire in a detached garage in Alberta, he estimated the fire had been burning for 15 minutes. Deputy Chief Robinson used his Fire Interruption Technology device to knock down the flames and buy time until crews arrived on scene.
The fire is suspected to have started accidentally by a wood-burning stove in the large, detached garage (approximately 26’x40’) constructed of wood and a tin roof. When Deputy Chief Robinson arrived on scene, smoke was visible from all four sides of the garage with flames coming out of one side.
Ara Safety's Fire Interruption Technology contained the fire, prevented spread of flames, and bought 6-8 minutes until the engine arrived on scene.
“This is our third deployment of [Fire Interruption Technology] and all instances have been successful”, said Deputy Chief Robinson. “It has bought time for our engine crew to arrive and set up for interior attacks, made interior fire fighting safer for our crews, and reduced property loss due to rapid deployment by first-arriving officers.”
