Fire Interruption Technology Knocks Down Electrical Fire in New Jersey and Reduces Water Usage by 80%
Mount Tabor, New Jersey
September 2009
A short while after receiving their Fire Interruption Technology device, the Mount Tabor Volunteer Fire Department Parsippany-Troy Hills District 1, used their device in response to an incipient bedroom fire in a suburban Mount Tabor home in New Jersey.
Upon arrival Captain David Hollner grabbed the device from his Chief's truck and proceeded to the unventilated bedroom and deployed Ara's device. “Upon deployment the fire was completely knocked down and the temperature dropped significantly", said Captain Hollner. Fire Interruption Technology bought approximately 5 minutes until apparatus arrived on scene. “With this knock down we were able to limit our water usage greatly and prevent the fire from spreading further", said Captain Hollner.
Ara's device helped reduce water usage by as much as 80%. The department used about 200 gallons of water rather than the expected 1000+ gallons. Cause of the fire was determined to be electrical. This was the department's first Fire Interruption Technology deployment with great results.
