Rocky Mountain House, AB
March 2009
Upon arrival on scene of a basement fire in an Alberta home, Deputy Fire Chief Rob Shanks of the Rocky Mountain House Fire Department did a quick size up of the fire and decided to deploy the device to knock down the fire in the basement and make interior attack safer.
A thermal imaging camera captured 900°C temperature drop to 400°C, 20 seconds after the device was deployed, and to 110°C one minute after the deployment. "We are very impressed at how fast [Fire Interruption Technology] worked and how easy it was to use", said Deputy Chief Shanks. "Every fire department should have a couple of these units."
The fire was contained to the basement, leaving the three door car garage untouched. Property savings by Ara's deivce are estimated at approximately $100,000.
