Fire Interruption Technology Saves New York Home from Kitchen Fire
Ridge, New York
November 2008
When Assistant Chief Anthony Morabito arrived at the scene, flames had already engulfed the front portion of a home in Ridge, NY, blocking windows and doorways and preventing firefighters from entering the home safely.
What had started as an unmonitored skillet on a stove turned into a fully involved fire that spread to the living room. Once at the scene, Assistant Chief Morabito threw Ara's device through a living room window and into the home. Fire Interruption Technology quickly knocked down the fire, allowing the crew to safely enter the structure and extinguish the remaining fire.
“I don’t know what would have happened to that home had we not had [Ara's device] in our car that day”. Fire Chief John DeVito said of the deployment. The department estimates to have used less than 1000 gallons of water to fully extinguish the fire. The Chief has already recommended Fire Interruption Technology to neighboring departments.
