New Jersey Home Saved with Ara Safety's Fire Interruption Technology
Pompton Lakes , New Jersey
October 2008
About a day after the department was equipped with Ara Safety's Fire Interruption Technology, Pompton Lakes Fire Department deployed the device to knock down a fire in a New Jersey home.
The fire that originated on the second-floor of the home, likely started by a child playing with matches, was effectively contained to the second floor of the structure after the device was deployed through a second-floor window. In seconds, flames and temperature were dramatically reduced. Fire Chief Dean Cioppa and his crew had the fire fully extinguished within ten minutes of deploying their Fire Interruption Technology device.
“I’ve been in the fire service for 21 years and have never seen a fire of that size, with that amount of flame, go out with in such short period of time. In less than ten minutes it was completely extinguished.” Said Chief Cioppa. “I believe without a doubt that [Ara's device] helped in the initial attack.”
In addition to suppressing the fire, Chief Cioppa suggested that Ara's device protected his crew from a potentially deadly situation. The home’s thatched roof, could have easily caved in had the fire progressed. With the deployment of Ara's device , the roof remained entact and the entire first floor was found free of damage.
The device used by the Pompton Lakes Fire Department was donated to the department by the Pompton Lakes Chamber of Commerce and the Pompton Lakes Rotary Club.
