Ara's device Saves BC Home From Kitchen Fire
Naramata, BC
September 2008
The Naramata Fire Department responded to a fully involved kitchen fire on September 17, 2008. First to arrive on scene, Fire Chief Grahame Baker made the tactical decision to deploy Ara's device prior to interior attack by two of the firefighters from the department.
"[Ara's device] definitely contributed to fire containment to the kitchen, buying precious time for our initial tact team effort, reducing water/property damage, lowering interior fire fighter deployment risks", said Will McCutcheon, one of two first responders involved in the interior attack. "Chief Baker's quick decision to deploy the [Fire Interruption Technology device] into the compromised area contributed greatly to our department's efforts, successfully preserving the structure, saving family content, and lowering risk to life".
Only small amount of foam was used to extinguish the remaining hot spots. The department has already replaced the deployed unit.
