Fire Interruption Technology Knocks Down Trailer Fire in Rural 2 Mile, BC
2 MILE, BC
MAY 2008
Account from Fire Chief Rejean Jack
On May 26, 2008, Chief Rejean Jack deployed his Fire Interruption Technology device, saving a trailer and its outbuildings in 2 Mile, BC, a small rural area outside of the Gitanmaax fire district.
The fire originated in the patio on a deep fryer and quickly spread into the trailer. When I arrived I could see a glow in the kitchen area; the fire was well on its way to destroying the trailer and the outbuilding that was less than 3 feet from the trailer. The owner had little hope of saving his property after the fire extinguisher he used failed to put out the fire. He told me to protect the outbuilding, if I could, and leave the trailer.
I knew that with only 300 gallons of water on scene, the outbuilding could not be saved without first extinguishing the fire in the trailer. I deployed [Ara's device] and it knocked down the fire, prevented the fire from spreading to the back bedroom, and saved the outbuilding.
I am sold on [Fire Interrupiton Technology]. This was not the first [device] I have thrown and I don’t expect it to be my last. In areas where there is limited water, [Fire Interruption Technology] is a must have. It is an important tool that I do not want to be without.
