Fire Interruption Technology Buys Time and Saves New Jersey Home
Matawan, NJ
February 2010
Responders from Cheesquake Volunteer Fire Company used their Fire Interruption Technology device to knock down flames in a basement fire in New Jersey, saving the home from loss.
Once Fire Chief Bruce Walker arrived on scene, the homeowner advised him that the fire was in the corner of the basement near the electrical panel. Once down in the basement, Chief Walker found flames all around the basement ceiling and wall near the electrical panel. He immediately deployed Ara's device and exited the basement.
Post deployment, the interior crew found no visible fire in the area of origin. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for extension.
"[Fire Interruption Technology] saved this building", said Chief Walker. With the home positioned far back in the lot, the crew had to extend hose lines to reach the building. The department estimates that Fire Interruption Technology bought approximately 10 minutes until water became available.
Fire Interruption Technology bought valuable time and minimized the amount of water required for overhaul.
