Fire Interruption Technology Makes Entry Safer and Aids in Occupant Recovery
Montague, NJ
January 2010
First to arrive on scene of a kitchen fire in a two family home in Montague, NJ, Fire Chief Jesse Brace of the Montague Fire Department, found heavy smoke coming out of the right side of the structure. He used his Fire Interruption Technology device to prevent spread of flames, buy time until crews arrived, make entry safer, and recover an occupant.
The fire started in the kitchen in the back of the house by a glass sliding door that was left open. The kitchen was fully involved and flames where moving quickly towards the living room and the second floor. Chief Brace inspected further and found a disoriented occupant who had collapsed in the family room. With flames quickly spreading, Chief Brace deployed Ara’s device into the kitchen. He then carried the occupant to safety through the glass door and off the deck.
Fire Interruption Technology knocked down the fire and prevented the spread of flames into the second floor and other areas of the duplex. Upon arrival, Montague Engine #1 conducted an aggressive interior attack and extinguished the remaining flames.
Crews from Sandyston, Milford, and Westfall fire departments provided mutual aid.
