Fire Interruption Technology Saves $100,000 in Ontario Garage Fire
Elmvale, ON
December 2009
A fire that started in an attached garage of an Ontario home on Christmas Day was fast spreading to the main entry of the home and spreading to the attic, when firefighters from the Springwater Fire & Emergency Services deployed their Fire Interruption Technology device.
Firefighters found access to the attic through the main level and deployed their Fire Interruption Technology device. The device quickly contained the fire and prevented further spread of flames, significantly reducing water usage and saving an estimated $100,000 in property damages.
"We are very satisfied with the deployment of [Fire Interruption Technology] and the reduction in the fire effects", said Deputy Fire Chief Herb Clements. "We are in the process of placing Fire Interruption Technology units into four lead pumpers, the Chief and the Deputy Chief's vehicles."
All occupants had evacuated the structure prior to the department's arrival. No injuries are reported.
