First Response

The heroes of the fire service are our communities’ most important line of defense against fire. Ara Safety brought the handheld Ara Safety Pro to market with fire fighters in mind, to put time on their side and to make an interior attack safer.

Other first responders also have important roles to play in protecting people and property from fire. When marine fires occur, the ship’s crew is the only line of defense. The men and women of our military are also called upon to fight fire in the field and in their communities during emergencies. Police patrolling in rural communities may be the first on the scene while residents are trapped inside. And in remote industrial locations, like the oil patch, workers must often respond to fire first.

Fire Service

The Ara Safety Pro was designed with career and volunteer fire fighters in mind. It will improve safety, reduce property loss, reduce wear and tear on equipment, and reduce water used in almost all structure fire situations.

Whether fighting a difficult to access high rise fire, protecting a neighboring house from destruction, or buying precious minutes for a fire team to arrive and knock down a well developed fire, the Ara Safety Pro is a proven effective tool for first responders. In many common fire situations, the Ara Pro may be your most effective tool:

  • Difficult to access structure fires,
  • Basement fires,
  • Fires in areas where water is unavailable or in short supply,
  • Extreme cold situations where water sources have frozen,
  • Fires in high traffic areas that are difficult for fire trucks to access,
  • Fires for which internal attack is required (and which traditionally expose fire teams to the highest degree of risk, injury, and loss), and
  • Fires for which the only entrance is from an aerial ladder through an open window or emergency doorway

Recommended Use: Each fire service vehicle should be equipped with two Ara Pro devices. For detailed recommendations on use and deployment, see the training section of this site.

Police

In rural areas, police on patrol often arrive on the scene of fire first – sometimes before the fire has even been called in.

In an early stage fire, every second counts. With Ara Safety’s device in hand, police can buy time for fire fighters to arrive, leaving them a standing house to save for the homeowner.

When victims are trapped inside, police will often put the lives of the victims ahead of their own safety and attempt a rescue. With the Ara Pro in hand and some basic training, police can help save victims in a much safer environment.

Recommended Products: Ara Safety Pro
Recommended Use: Patrol cars should be equipped with one Ara Safety Pro to be used as a tool for victim recovery and to buy fire fighters time to overhaul the fire.

Military

Whether on the base or in the field, Ara Safety’s technology can protect military personnel and equipment from fire. Capable of being installed and/or deployed in vehicles, buildings, and forward operating locations, Ara’s condensed aerosol technology can help protect against fires, limit explosion damage, and reduce risk of injury. Potential applications include:

  • Equipping military land vehicles, such as the Canadian Forces LAV-3, or the American M1 Abrams tank, with the Ara Safety Pro to knock down a vehicle or temporary structure fire in combat situations in which water is scarce or hard to access (such as a forward operating locations).
  • Installing Ara’s devices in military facilities and operating vehicles to protect in combat and non-combat scenarios from fire, fire related disasters, or explosions.
  • Equipping military ships with the Ara Safety Pro, for use against difficult to access boiler and engine room fires.

Industrial

Industrial fires create unique risks for first responders, such as unknown chemicals releasing toxic smoke, physical obstacles that make fire fighting difficult, or large amounts of highly flammable material. The following are just some examples of situations where Ara Safety Pro can be used in various industrial fire situations:

  • Structure fires in closed spaces.
  • Fires originating from oil or gasoline.
  • Fires on oil rigs from rigging gear.
  • Machine fires.
  • Fires in administrative offices where sprinkler systems are either not installed or have not been deployed.
  • Electrical fires.
  • Inventory or warehouse fires.
  • Earthquakes and natural disasters which cause fires to occur unexpectedly.

Marine

Ara Safety’s condensed aerosol technology devices were designed to withstand the rigors of the marine environment. The Ara Pro and/or Ara fire suppression systems can be combined:

  • For equipping military ships, enabling the crew to knock down dangerous, hard to access, boiler and engine room fires.
  • To protect main control rooms from electronic control panel fires that would jeopardize a vessel’s overall operations.
  • As a first defense against ship kitchen fires until fire and emergency crews arrive.
  • In cases of gas or fuel tank explosions or other fires that are contained within the space of a ship’s hull, engine rooms, cargo holds, or fuel tanks.
  • For fires that occur when a hull is ruptured from grounding, or from the direct impact of another boat.
